TODAY YOU CAN TRANSFORM THE LIFE OF A YOUNG REFUGEE
For many refugee families and communities, securing the future of children and youth is their hope and promise of a brighter future.
At UNHCR, we believe that providing education for refugee youth is as a vital priority, to ensure both stability and normality, so that they can explore their potential, develop their skills, build a career path, and live into a better future.
“I was forced to leave my country, home, friends, and my school. I knew that to build a life, I need to study. I registered with UNHCR for their higher education scholarships, and I now study computer science. My dream is to study abroad and be able to stand someday on a large stage to share my story and challenges, and to encourage everyone to continue working to achieve their dreams.”
Wea’am, a refugee living in Lebanon.
Today, only 5% of refugee youth have access to higher education, such as university. For this reason, UNHCR launched the “Aiming Higher” initiative to support the Refugee Scholarships Program (DAFI). This programme enables gifted young refugee students to pursue a university degree or similar higher education. Our goal is ambitious but achievable: Increasing the percentage of refugees enrolled at university to 15% by 2030.
Now, you have the chance to support future nurses, doctors, engineers, scientists, architects and many other professionals who are fundamental in the rebuilding and regeneration of a community!
Your contribution to fund higher education scholarships for refugee is an act of kindness that can last beyond your lifetime, extending your impact to the lives of future generations.
An annual fee of $3,200 is needed to fund each scholar, but any contribution no matter how small, can go a long way to making dreams come true.
