Increasing violence and insecurity have displaced more than half a million Afghan civilians this year. Though the situation is changing by the hour, it is clear that we are witnessing large-scale displacement amid what is now a humanitarian emergency.
“Bombs were being dropped. My father was killed and a lot of my relatives were killed as well and we were forced to flee. I was responsible for my children and I didn’t want them to be killed.” Maryam, a mother of four, told us why she fled her home.
Please help displaced families now.
UNHCR and partners remain operational in nearly two thirds of Afghanistan and are able to access all provinces. Our emergency teams are on the ground delivering life-saving essentials like cash assistance, family tents, hygiene support, blankets, sleeping mats, and other critical items to the mothers, fathers, children, and the elderly who are searching for safety.
We urgently need your help today.
