The Cholera outbreak in Lebanon threatens the lives of many, especially refugees.
The lives of 120,000 people – including children, women and the elderly – are at risk, especially those living in extreme poverty and difficult conditions.
Following the first reported case, the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon declared a cholera outbreak on October 6th, 2022. As per the latest figures, Lebanon now has more than 3,160 confirmed and suspected cases and 18 deaths have been reported.

Cholera is an acute diarrhoeal infection caused by ingestion of contaminated food or water with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae and can spread rapidly in areas with inadequate access to clean water, sanitation and healthcare. If left untreated, a cholera case can lead to death within a matter of hours.
