Aiming Higher: Funding Refugee Students Through University
Along with their families, refugee youth have battled the odds, fleeing their homes in search of safety and new beginnings. But for many, the dream of continuing their education seemed like a distant one.
With your support, the UNHCR ‘Aiming Higher’ programme can help change that.
Aiming Higher builds on UNHCR’s Refugee Scholarship Program (DAFI), the longest-running and largest higher education scholarship programme for refugees, which has supported more than 18,500 young refugees to pursue undergraduate degrees worldwide, for over 28 years.
Just USD 3,200 can fund one refugee student for an entire year of university – covering tuition, housing, food, transport, books, and more.
Why Your Support Matters
- Only 9% of refugee youth currently have access to higher education.
UNHCR is working to raise this to 15% by 2030 through the Aiming Higher campaign. - DAFI scholars don’t just earn degrees – they create potential. From future doctors, engineers, translators, teachers… they become changemakers who help build stronger communities.
Your generosity can have a transformative impact on young minds helping them build brighter futures through higher education.
