Help refugees and displaced communities prepare for winter
Can you imagine living in a plastic shelter when the storm hits and temperatures drop below freezing? This is the reality for thousands of refugee and displaced families every year.
Families find themselves trapped facing brutal winter weather, especially when snowstorms, torrential rains and floods hit the region.
UNHCR and Twitter are launching a five-month, global campaign coinciding with World Refugee Day (20 June 2019) and aiming to raise urgent awareness about what refugees face every year they spend in camps, informal settlements, makeshift shelters and unfinished buildings, away from home. Last winter, as many as 3.4 million Syrian and Iraqi refugees and internally displaced people were in desperate need of winter support in countries across the Middle East.
Today, you can join us to help refugees be ready when winter comes!
UNHCR works for months to prepare for the harsh winter conditions and provide life-saving assistance to refugees and internally displaced, but we need your help to ensure warmth and safety to all those who need support.
