In search of clean water, they walk for miles in dangerous conditions. The risk of sickness and disease is high. They constantly pray for relief, and a way to provide this most basic need for their families. To them, water is life.

Why is this important?
Securing clean water is vital for drinking, sanitation and hygiene, and to prevent waterborne diseases. It also helps maintain dignity, particularly for women who may need to travel long distances to access water.
• Yearly flash floods destroy already fragile dams that collect rainwater.
• A prolonged dry season (Nov – May) when even less water is collected, causes a severe rationing of water for those in need.
• Salty water from the Naf River cannot be used for consumption.
• Severe funding cuts to UNHCR programmes limit our ability to support those in need.
