Nama Women Advancement Establishment

Nama Women Advancement Establishment (NAMA) was founded in 2015 and is chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, UNHCR’s Eminent Advocate (EA), and President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah. Nama aims at creating an enabling environment to promote gender equality and inclusive economic and social growth. It focuses on women to embody the understanding that women advancement is a cornerstone towards a more sustainable future.
To reflect this philosophy, Nama funded the UNHCR’s program in Pakistan which aims at training 100 Afghan and Pakistani women in the skill of carpet weaving to improving their employability and income-generating capacity.
Etihad Airways was established in July 2003 following a Royal Decree by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan the President of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi. Since its inception the airways has progressed rapidly to become one of the Middle East’s top airlines. In addition to its success, Etihad has cultivated its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) profile to ensure the well-being of communities both locally and globally.
Etihad has joined hands with the UNHCR in March 2020 by contributing USD 13,670 to support refugee children in Kenya. Etihad has also focused on funding projects to ease the plight caused by the COVID19 pandemic through a generous contribution of USD 716,160 to provide medical supplies and hygiene materials to refugee communities in Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon in 2020-2021.
